Have you started your niche website yet? What are you waiting for?

Dear “Earn Money Online” Wannabe,

I just wanted to check in and see how you’re doing. I had a feeling that you haven’t figured out what kind of niche site you want to build so that you can earn money online. Just do it. Use this brilliant technique I learned from Court’s Internet Marketing School:

Step 1: Use Wordtracker’s free keyword tool (just google the term free wordtracker and you’ll find it) and start brainstorming niche ideas. For example, you like dogs. Type in the word dog to find out what kinds of dog-related things people are looking for. It could be dog training, dog breeding, dog allergies, whatever. Start zeroing in on terms that have at least 200 searches. I’d keep that browser open and open up another one to do step 2.

Step 2: Take some of the keyword phrases you found in step 1 and do google searches for them using quotes. Search for “dog allergies” and see how many search results you get, in this case it is 107,000. When we put that together with the number of searches for that phrase, which was 228, we have a niche keyword phrase that we could stand a very good chance of getting to the top of the SERPs (the search results) for. Court recommended not even trying to compete in anything with over 1,000,000 search results because that’s a really saturated market.

We can do better - and we did. 228 searches per day with 107,000 existing results is a pretty good ratio, and gives you a good chance of getting organic search traffic for your site.

Step 3: You have a good niche keyword phrase. Repeat the process to find other ideas. Then, explore Clickbank, RocketProfit, Commission Junction, Amazon, LinkShare, PayDotCom, and browse AssociatePrograms.com to find related products to sell. Assess the viability of the topic as a money-maker based on what you found at those sites.

Step 4: Get to work building your niche website using the phrase “dog allergies” (or whatever you decided on) as the main keyword phrase for the entire site. Check my article setting up a Wordpress blog if you need help in that area. Research cheap website hosting or just go with my favorite Florida-based company Hostgator. I’ve used a few hosting companies and Hostgator has been the best in price, service, reliability, and speed.

Again, this method comes from Court and has rocked my world!
